Archery Simulator

Many cultures have used bows and arrows for thousands of years. Archery, or using a stringed bow to propel arrows toward a target, may have begun as early as the Stone Age, around 20,000 BC. The use of bows and arrows dated back to the ancient Egyptians and continued through the Shang dynasty of China (1766–1027 BC), the hordes of Attila the Hun, and the great civilizations of Assyria, Persia, and the Parthians.

Huntsmen and warriors both needed to hone their archery skills, leading to the first documented archery competition, which took place in Finsbury, England, in 1583 and attracted 3,000 competitors. Although archery’s popularity on the battlefield waned after the invention of firearms, it remained a popular hobby, with many countries holding tournaments regularly. The Olympic Games originally included archery in 1900 for men and 1904 for women (making it one of the oldest sports for female participants), again in 1908 and 1920, and then again in 1972.

There are several variations of competitive archery, in which archers fire arrows at a target, but the goal is always the same: reaching as near the target’s center as possible. Shooting at a target at a distance of 70 meters, the Olympic competition includes a ranking round in which participants’ cumulative scores establish their positions before moving on to a single-elimination bracket.
